Aiding Children | Fighting AIDS

The Awassa Children’s Project's (ACP) Visiting Professional Program supports both the Awassa Children’s Center (ACC) and the Awassa Youth Campus (AYC). ACP invites professionals and experts who bring skills, dedication, experience and resources that aim to further ACP activities and programs. Please note that “professional” is used in the broadest sense possible, i.e. artists (theater, drawing, painting, music, graphic art, dance, martial arts, circus, etc.), health care professionals, teachers, international development specialists, financial consultants, grant application specialists, sports specialists (coaches, players, coordinators, etc.), and other professions or skills-focused areas of expertise. ACP encourages candidates who will provide opportunities for skills/knowledge transfer to the youth of Awassa through creative and progressive methods and who are self-motivated, independent travelers able to successfully cope with all of the challenges and opportunities developing countries such as Ethiopia present.

To apply for the Visiting Professional Program, please complete the Awassa Children’s Project Volunteer Application, with particular attention to the proposal required at the end in which you must clearly state a detailed plan for the program and activities you intend to conduct if selected as a Visiting Professional. Additionally, please provide a resume or CV with your application. Visiting Professionals are accepted only on a volunteer, independent contractor basis and are therefore expected to cover all associated costs and liability risk.

ACP can assist Visiting Professionals in applying for grants or other funding by providing verification of acceptance as a Visiting Professional. ACP can also assist with travel and lodging related questions. For more information please read the following Frequently Asked Questions or email the ACP Volunteer Coordinator.
