Aiding Children | Fighting AIDS

In-Campus Activities refer to the extracurricular opportunities provided for youth at the Awassa Youth Campus (AYC). In-Campus activities are designed to compliment the formal education in school through providing the materials, environment and instruction necessary for youth to develop, explore and share their innate potential. In-Campus Activities are held in AYC facilities as well as on the community space located in front of AYC. AYC facilities include a small library/art room, and outside training area, a dojo/open room and gardens perfect for studying or just relaxing. In 2006, AYC constructed a basketball court on the open space in front of the facilities. In 2007, AYC plans to continue to improve this community space through revamping the football pitch, painting murals, planting trees/flowers and constructing public benches. In-Campus Activities are the creative cornerstone for AYC Outreach Programs, which aim to promote awareness via creativity. Finally, the constructive, educational and recreational outlets provided via In-Campus Activities establish AYC as a creative workspace and community resource for all youth.

Specific In-Campus activities fall under three general categories, these are: a) Physical Activities b) Educational Activities and c) Artistic Activities.
